Tomorrow marks 12 months since I received my very first adidas racing kit! I remember how excited I was to start the year fresh and fit and ready for a good year of training and racing. When I received my first adidas kit I was very proud. It brought me back to a few years earlier when I was just on the fringe of making a World Cross Country team bound for Kenya. I placed 44th and vowed I’d do better next time. Next time, was Scotland, a top 20 finish and a team bronze medal. For some, shoe sponsors and personal support comes easy. But for me I know what I have put in to get where I am and I am grateful for every shoe I receive and every mile my friends and family have ran with me.
Tomorrow I get the brand new green and pink number and thankfully after a week of 100 miles under my belt and some quality running, I plan to put the new gear to good use. Watching the splits of the Osaka marathon today on the Japanese Running Live Twitter link has fired me up! Hearing the fantastic runs by Kaila and Georgie last night at Hunter has made me excited about Womens Running in 2011 and seeing my good friend Anna Thompson back in action on the cross country track, where she stars reminds me of how much I love Australian running!
Today ends week 6 of my return to running…tomorrow I am looking forward to running with a big smile on my face, even if it is 5am when I do it!!
