InspiringTheEveryday

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve felt inadequate when asked “You run a lot, do you do parkrun?”  “Err no, I haven’t yet.” I always reply.  The amount of times Lachlan and I have conquered that Coburg Lake hill would be too crazy to count, but I had not yet completed the ultimate and ran that hill during Coburg Parkrun.  Now we have and I can see why so many people love it so very much!

On Saturday Lachlan and I completed our first Coburg parkrun – we crossed the line together in 16:22, both setting age grade records. Yay!  We are almost finished our first month of a training plan for 2019 and I’m already excited about trying again next month while we prepare for Gold Coast Half Marathon and Sydney Harbour 10km.

5km is the perfect distance.  Much more civilised than the marathon of course.  Who wouldn’t get hooked.  To compliment the running though.  It’s the friends you make on the journey that brings you back week after week and the lovely runners welcomed us so kindly.

From 5km to 24hours of running…we also stuck our chin in at the track too this weekend and witnessed an event I’ve never seen before.  A race for 24hours around the athletics track.  Now that is commitment.  A huge congratulations to the runners who competed in the event.  There’s nothing everyday about that achievement.

As a mum, a workmate, a sister, a wife, a daughter, an aunt and a runner I try to find ways to help and inspire others to find their best every day.  This weekend the runners of Coburg inspired me.  Thank you!
